The U.S. Patriot ACT: Opening a New Account

President Bush signed the USA PATRIOT Act into law on October 26, 2001. One section of the USA PATRIOT Act says we must:

  • Verify the identity of any person seeking to open an account which includes:
    • Trust, Investments, Safe Deposit, and Loans
    • Deposit Accounts
  • Maintain records of the information used to verify the person's identity including:
    • name address
    • & other identifying means

New Peoples Bank will follow this law by obtaining picture identification and verifying other information when you open a new account. In all cases, protection of our customer's identity and confidentiality is the Bank's pledge to you.

What this means for YOU:

When you open an account, we will ask for your name, address, date of birth and other information that will allow us to identify you. We may also ask to see your driver's license or other identity document.
